Colvin & Moggridge recently worked with the Social Enterprise, Class of Your Own, to deliver a ‘Design Engineer Construct’ workshop at Stanley Park High School in Croydon. The aim of the Social Enterprise is to inspire the next generation of built professionals whilst supporting schools in their delivery of the core Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths curriculum.
One of our senior landscape architects, Koral Ikiz, attended the workshop and worked alongside Architects from Broadway Malyan and Engineers from Arcadis to assist the students with their designs for an Eco classroom and garden; helping them understand the role of landscape architect and encouraging students to develop their skills and understanding of the built environment with an emphasis on sustainability and ecology.
“It’s so important that children and young people see landscape architecture as an essential part of the design process. An Eco Classroom site has its own character and its own challenges, and the art of merging the man-made with the natural world to create a place where we can work, rest and play is highly specialised. Koral did a great job to bring landscape architecture to life for the students of Stanley Park – we look forward to next time!” Alison Watson CEO Class of Your Own
