A team led by Mark Darwent of Colvin & Moggridge has obtained dual success in gaining full planning permission for 16 extra-care apartments and outline permission for an additional 24 extra-care dwellings on behalf of clients Albion Lodge Development Ltd.
The extra-care apartments will be linked to the existing Albion Lodge Retirement Home located on the edge of Hanley Swan in the Worcestershire countryside. Associated works include a new site access, landscaping and parking.
The 24 extra-care dwellings are to be located on a greenfield site adjacent to the retirement home. The dwellings will be arranged around a central meadow and a watercourse.
Malvern Hills District Council accepted that, in meeting economic, social and environmental criteria, the proposals represented sustainable development. The loss of open countryside was addressed by comprehensive and sensitive mitigation measures including specialised, high quality design and extensive landscaping. Malvern Hills District Council accepted that overall the benefits of the scheme demonstrably outweighed the scheme’s potential adverse impacts.
Colvin & Moggridge will continue to provide landscape advice as the project moves forward.
The project team includes Colvin & Moggridge, Yiangou Architects, Hunter-Page Planning Ltd, PFA Consulting Ltd engineers and EPDM ecologists.
