Colvin & Moggridge have been appointed by the National Trust to improve car parking arrangements and the visitor experience along Bridgewater Drive on the Ashridge Estate, Buckinghamshire.
During peak times this hugely popular site is becoming degraded due to the high numbers of vehicles parking on Monument Drive which is part of the historic Grade II* listed Ashridge Park and leads to the Grade II* Bridgewater Monument.
In addition to the listed status of the Monument and its immediate setting, the site lies within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), falls within a Special Area of Conservation (SAC), is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and includes archaeological remains from a WW2 camp.
We look forward to working with the National Trust team over the coming months to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the history, landscape significance and the current use of the site, which will be essential to inform our proposals for this sensitive landscape and popular destination.
