Estate Restoration & Rejuvenation

The interventions of several owners since the late 17th-century had left the parkland and remnant gardens of Williamstrip Hall fragmented. We were commissioned to bring cohesion back to the landscape; retain the best; reinstate lost features; and restore the wider estate landscape.

We established new gardens within the pleasure grounds area. The gardens, both beautiful and practical, complement and improve each of the renovated 18th-century mansion elevations and provide usable space for the family. All elements were designed to be appreciated from the main rooms within the house. Along the approach, for example, specialist tree and shrub stock, including fine Italian topiary, were chosen to provide immediate impact and framework. Two hundred trees planted throughout the park will mature to define views and preserve historic tree cover.
